COLLABORATIVE SPACE

Three pilates studios in one place offer multiple areas of expertise and share a passion for the classical Pilates method and client-centered training.

OUR STORY

A Pilates Place was founded by a trio of Pilates studio owners and friends who share the same core values and a passion for classical pilates. In 2016, we organized the first annual Pilates Staycation to give our clients a mini-weekend getaway. Staycation included a variety of health and wellness activities including pilates, massage, and meditation.

In 2020 everything changed.

The Pilates Staycation went virtual and so did we. We worked hard to provide our clients with continuity and safety by transitioning from live classes to online classes.

After years of collaboration, and with over 50 years of combined experience, we decided to make it official. A Pilates Place was founded in June 2021 and is a collaborative, cooperative studio, with three studios housed under one roof. We share more than just a space, we share a passion for the Pilates Method and believe that our clients are more than just clients, they are family. Welcome to A Pilates Place!

ABOUT THE FOUNDERS

KIMBERLY KANDRA

Kimmotion Pilates

Kimberly Kandra, the owner of Kimmotion Pilates, is originally from New York. She graduated from Hamilton College with a BA in Dance Performance and began her career as a modern dancer, performing professionally and choreographing for companies in New York, Chicago, and Annapolis.

After the birth of her five children, including two sets of twins, she discovered that the Pilates method helped bring back the flexibility, strength, and tone that she needed to dance. In the summer of 2010, Kimberly took her final on-stage bow and made the leap to her second career as a Pilates studio owner.

Kim has trained extensively with Cameron MacDonald, Bonnie Grove, the late Bob Liekens and most recently, completed the Advanced Teaching Seminar with Clare Dunphy Hemani.

Kim is a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher, a member of the Pilates Method Alliance and is a specialist in Pilates for Multiple Sclerosis and other Neurological Conditions. She is also a Mentor in the Elevate Pilates Mentorship Program.

With nearly 20 years of Pilates teaching experience, her strength is adapting for clientele with varying injuries and health concerns and her gentle and encouraging demeanor brings out the best in everyone, from beginners to the most advanced of clients. Possessing a keen eye for detail and subtle cues, Kim is creative in her approach and knowledgable about her subject.
