OUR STORY

Welcome to A Pilates Place, where our passion for classical Pilates and community come together!

Founded in June 2021 by a trio of dedicated studio owners, we offer a collaborative space that embodies our shared values.

Our journey began in 2017 when we held the first Pilates Staycation retreat. During the pandemic, like many businesses, we pivoted  and our retreat and classes evolved into a virtual experience to continue to support our clients during those challenging times.

Now, with over 50 years of combined experience, we proudly present Tree-O Pilates Teacher Training nurturing the next generation of Pilates instructors.

Join us in celebrating wellness and connection!

ABOUT THE FOUNDERS

KIMBERLY KANDRA

Kimmotion Pilates

Kimberly Kandra, the owner of Kimmotion Pilates, is originally from New York. She graduated from Hamilton College with a BA in Dance Performance and began her career as a modern dancer, performing professionally and choreographing for companies in New York, Chicago, and Annapolis.

After the birth of her five children, including two sets of twins, she discovered that the Pilates method helped bring back the flexibility, strength, and tone that she needed to dance. In the summer of 2010, Kimberly took her final on-stage bow and made the leap to her second career as a Pilates studio owner.

Kim has trained extensively with Cameron MacDonald, Bonnie Grove, the late Bob Liekens, completed the Advanced Teaching Seminar with Clare Dunphy Hemani in 2019 and will begin the Heritage Training Program with Cara Reeser later this spring.

Kim is a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher, a member of the Pilates Method Alliance and is a specialist in Pilates for Multiple Sclerosis and other Neurological Conditions. She is also a Mentor in the Elevate Pilates Mentorship Program and co-creator of the Tree-O Pilates Teacher Training Program.

With nearly 20 years of Pilates teaching experience, her strength is adapting for clientele with varying injuries and health concerns and her gentle and encouraging demeanor brings out the best in everyone, from beginners to the most advanced of clients. Possessing a keen eye for detail and subtle cues, Kim is creative in her approach and knowledgable about her subject.
